Abstract

Introduction: Vitamins A, C and D have protective effects against precancerous lesions. We analyzed the intake of vitamins A, C and D and anthropometry in dyspeptic and gastric cancer (GC) patients who attended the gastroenterology service of the Hospital Clínica Bíblica between 2021 and 2023. Methods: Data were collected with an interview and two 24-hour reminders. Results: The sample consisted of 31 people over 18 years of age, mainly with chronic atrophic gastritis and metaplasia, overweight and hereditary and family medical history of gastric lesions. 29% of the sample was diagnosed with H. pylori. Vitamin A and C intakes were adequate, but vitamin D intake was lower than the recommendation. Participants without excess weight had higher mean intakes of vitamin A, C and D than their counterpart, with no significant differences (p=0,24, p=0,44, p=0,72). Participants with autoimmune gastritis and CG had the lowest average intakes, with significant difference for vitamin D (p=0,04). Conclusion: There were no significant differences in vitamin intake according to anthropometry or clinic, except for vitamin D. Given the sample size, these results should be taken with caution.
