El papel de las ciencias ómicas en la nutrición de precisión

Introducción: La nutrición de precisión surge como un enfoque innovador que adapta las intervenciones dietéticas a la diversidad biológica, genética y ambiental de cada individuo. A diferencia de las recomendaciones tradicionales, este paradigma busca optimizar la prevención y el manejo de enfermedades crónicas mediante estrategias personalizadas. Las ciencias ómicas, como la nutrigenética, la nutrigenómica y la nutriepigenética, desempeñan un papel escencial en la comprensión de las interacciones entre genes, nutrimentos y el entorno, permitiendo intervenciones más efectivas e individualizadas. Resultados: La nutrigenética explora cómo las variantes genéticas influyen en la respuesta metabólica. Ejemplos destacados incluyen el polimorfismo rs628031 en SLC22A1/OCT1, relacionado con la respuesta a tratamientos farmacológicos, y el rs174547 en FADS1, implicado en la síntesis de omega-3. Por otro lado, la nutrigenómica analiza cómo los nutrimentos modulan la expresión génica, destacando el impacto positivo de los ácidos grasos omega-3 y las dietas mediterráneas en la regulación de genes inflamatorios y antioxidantes. La nutriepigenética complementa este enfoque al estudiar cómo la dieta afecta la expresión génica mediante mecanismos como la metilación del ADN. Conclusión: Estos avances resaltan el potencial de la alimentación y el ejercicio en la regulación molecular, promoviendo un enfoque integral y personalizado para la salud. No obstante, la implementación de la nutrición de precisión enfrenta desafíos como altos costos y la necesidad de infraestructura avanzada. A pesar de ello, esta disciplina promete intervenciones más inclusivas, sostenibles y eficaces, con el potencial de transformar la salud global y reducir desigualdades.
